Halloween comes early to Port Isabel as the Highway 100 medians are decorated with delightfully playful skeletons…cycling, bar-b-queing, picnicking, fishing, or just hanging out. And Port Isabel has a full schedule of events starting with “Telling Our Stories” at the Treasures of the Gulf Museum, Thursday at 7 p.m. Friday, on the grounds of the Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center, the Lighthouse Establishment Cinema will host a showing of “Beetlejuice”. Free family fun, showtime – 8:30 p.m. Come in costume and get a free popcorn!
On Saturday, the Museums of Port Isabel will host their annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead Celebration) on the grounds of the Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center! Starting at 4 p.m., the even will feature hands on activities, booths, presentations, costume contest and a street dance with live music by La Farra. No admission charge. Food vendors. From 4 – 11 p.m.

The Port Isabel Merchants Committee has planned a full slate of activities in October in a campaign titled “Fall for Port Isabel”.
The month will kick off with weekly ghost tours, beginning October 1st and will include a street fair on October 8th, a Halloween Store Front Decorating Contest and Market Days.
The Fall Carnival will come to town the week of October 22-30 and a Pumpkin Carving Contest will be held October 24th at Beulah Lee Park. The Port Isabel Public Library will feature Psychic Readings on October 25th and 26th and a Coloring Contest and Poetry Readings on October 27th.
The Lighthouse Establishment Cinema will close out is 2011 season with the movie “Rango” on October 28th and the fall campaign will culminate with Day of the Dead activities and a Street Dance.
