Adventures in Literature series presents a Special Appearance
Jeanne Savery (Romance novels) and Betty Hanawa (Spicy Romance novels)
Romance Novel Author, Jeanne Savery: Well-known writer, Jeanne Savery has written more than three dozen Regency Romance novels and current publishes with an e-publisher, Cerridwen Press, in their Cotillion line of Regencies. She has been the recipient of the Reader’s Choice Award and Holt Medallion, and is a member on Novelists, Inc. and Romance Writers of America.
Contemporary, Fantasy & Erotica Romance Novel Author, Betty Hanawa: Betty Hanawa writes romances ranging from contemporary to paranormal to future societies, all with spicy scenes and a huge dollop of humor that frequently slides into the ironic. Her husband hopes she becomes successful enough that he can retire and be kept in the manner in which he’s kept her all these years. Her son just wants the covers of her books to not embarrass him when he buys them in the bookstores.
Ms. Savery and Ms. Hanawa will make their special guest appearance on Saturday, January 16th at 4:30 PM. Club Padre, 5800 Padre Boulevard, South Padre Island.

The Laguna Madre Writer’s Forum will present poetry/short story readings for the general public in celebration of the 3rd Annual El Faro Fall Poetry Fest.
The readings will start at 11:00 a.m. and run until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009, on the grounds of the Port Isabel Lighthouse. The Laguna Madre Writers Forum was founded in 2006 and promotes the literary arts in the Rio Grande Valley.
Guests will include: co-founder of the Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Writers Forum of San Benito, Gene Novogradsky; co-founder of the Laguna Madre Writers Forum of Port Isabel, Rudy Garcia; founder of the Valley Byliners of Harlingen, Robin Cates; public bilingual poeta extrordinaire, Brenda Nettle Riojas; published author, Jennifer Salinas; Chicano poet, Melitone Hinojosa; local talent, Arturo Saldana; local historian and poet, Rod Bates; singer/songwriter, Edgar Clinton Jr.; poet, playwright, and director of the El Faro Fall Poetry Festival, Ken “Blue Town” Trevino; and many more.
High School student performances include: district UIL writing champ, Aliesha Janiga; musician James Taylor; and award winning piano player, Colin Minkler.
This will be the fifth poetry reading at the Port Isabel Lighthouse with poets from all over the Laguna Madre reading and sharing song. Presentations will fluctuate between poetry and music. The public is welcome to bring chairs, chests, and drinks, along with hungry ears to enjoy the event.
