H.E.B. Awards $35,000 Grant to the City of Port Isabel

April 12, 2010–

H.E.B. presented a check to the City of Port Isabel on Monday, as a continued investment in the quality of life in the Laguna Madre area. The funds were accepted by Mayor Joe E. Vega who stated that the $35,000 would be used as seed money to increase funding for improvements for Washington Park and Laguna Madre Park. On hand with Mayor Joe E. Vega to accept the check from Virginia Perez, H.E.B. representative, were City Commissioner Memo Torres, Port Isabel City Manager Edward Meza and Park Advisers Mark Guillot and Raul Loera. Store Director Bea Lopez, Virginia Lopez and Mayor Joe E. Vega all stressed the importance of this partnership in furthering the efforts to make Port Isabel and the Laguna Madre a better place to live, work and play.

City of Port Isabel Employees Recognized l Years of Service

City of Port Isabel employees were recognized on December 23rd for their years of service. Among those pictured below are:

20 or more years: Eddie Holland 12/31/81 (28 years); Cayetano Gonzalez 10/1/79 (30 years); Diodoro Diaz 12/3/87 (22 years); Raul Fernandez 3/19/84 (25 years); Esteban Nava 7/9/74 (35 years); Joe Salinas 11/3/88 (21 years); Ida Tellez 12/4/847 (25 years); Charlie Wood 1/24/89 (20 years).

15 or more years: Joe Delgadillo 3/18/93 (16 years); and Daniel Marchan 3/1/94 (15 years).

10 or more years: Jose Angel Martinez 12/1/99 (10 years); Edward Meza 12/6/96 (13 years); Lourdes Nunez 1/8/99 (10 years); Baldemar Alaniz 3/30/98 (11 years); Omar Olguin 6/12/95 (14 years); and Geraldo Saldivar 10/21/96 (13 years).
