Economic Development Corporation

The Economic Development Corporation Board meets the third Wednesday of bi-monthly in the City Commission Meeting Chambers at 6:00 p.m. or as needed. The Port Isabel Economic Development Corporation was established in 1995. The EDC is a non-profit 4B corporation governed by a Board of Directors and operated under the direction of the Port Isabel EDC Director, City Manager Jared Hockema. Port Isabel EDC receives 1/2 of one (1) percent from local sales and hotel/motel taxes; which is then used to fund projects for the well-being of our city through workforce training and business incentives. Because Port Isabel is a tourist-based city, the EDC also provides initiatives such as beautifying our streets/sidewalks, sponsoring community events, and enhancing the Museums. Port Isabel EDC offers a Revolving Loan Program to assist existing businesses or the entrepreneur who is looking to start a new endeavor. Low interest rate loans aid our businesses to grow, and future developers to succeed. By helping them take the next step forward, we also assist our residents through job creation. Port Isabel EDC Accreditation: The Port Isabel EDC was first accredited by the state in 1995. 956/943-2682 Visit the PI EDC website here.
