Event background:
Mayor Joe E. Vega and the Port Isabel City Commission invite residents and the public alike to come celebrate Dies Y Sies De Septembre and the Parks of Port Isabel on Saturday, September 17, from 3:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Washington Park on Jefferson Street in Port Isabel.
The idea of having a “Pachanga in the Park” started with a meeting by the Mayor and Commissioners about three years ago wanting to promote the parks system of Port Isabel. Finally after three years, the City will present a day of music, great food, beverages, chalupa bingo, and more. There will be a chalupa making contest, a grito contest, a jalapeno eating contest, and lots of fun. Funds raised will go to the improvements of the parks in Port Isabel. There will be chalupas, tacos, menudo, tamales, hot dogs, hamburgers, sweets, turkey legs and more. There will be aguas frescas, sodas and a beer garten.
Mayor Vega states, “This is a great time to celebrate the wonderful parks the City of Port Isabel has to offer to its residents and visitors.” Our parks include Washington Park, Laguna Madre Park and Sports Complex, Pompano Boat Ramp and Docks Park, Auturo Galvan Park, Railroad Park, Veterans Park, Beaulah Lee Park, Barrel Mock Park, and Historic Lighthouse Park. Having green areas for our residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors is crucial to the quality of life in Port Isabel.
Entrance is free to the public. For more information contact the City of Port Isabel at (956)943-2682.
All proceeds benefit the upgrade of the Parks in Port Isabel.
