Port Isabel Commissioner M.J. Garza and friends support the Beautification Committee!
The Port Isabel Beautification Committee held its annual fundraiser in the Garden at the Lighthouse on Thursday. Live music, wine tasting and lots of great food for a great cause was the order of the evening. The Beautification Committee would like to recognize and thank the sponsors for the event: Ben’s Liquor, L & F Distributors, Pirates Landing Restaurant, H.E.B., Marine Services, Art Sea, Coastal Mail, The Garden, Wal-Mart, V-Tech Signs, City of Port Isabel, Port Isabel EDC, Museums of Port Isabel. And a special thanks to all the patrons! Food for the event was provided by Beautification Committee Members and Pirates Landing Restaurant. Music provided by: Marco Tamayo & Alonzo Echavarria-Garza. All donations will be used to enhance, beautify and support Port Isabel’s public tropical landscaping.
The purpose of the Port Isabel Beautification Committee is to educate and beautify with the intent to promote public interest in beautification and to initiate, plan, direct and coordinate programs for improving the aesthetic quality of Port Isabel. The Committee contributes positively the development and awareness to our youth, our citizens and our visitors about littering and waste disposal to promote and present Port Isabel’s natural beauty and tropical landscape. The future of our Committee includes the creation of an annual plan for outreach and the enhancement of public spaces.

So, roll up your sleeves and get involved, the Port Isabel Beautification Committee meets on the second Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall Commissioners Chamber. Call 943-0705 for more information.

The Port Isabel Beautification Committee will be hosting a Mixer on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at Lighthouse Square.
Presale tickets are $20.00 and $25.00 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the PIEDC office located at City Hall, 305 E. Maxan Street.
