City Receives ASPCA Grant
The City of Port Isabel was recently awarded a grant in the amount of $5,000 from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (A.S.P.C.A.) The A.S.P.C.A. is located in New York City, NY. Their mission statement is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. The grant will support the Isabel Y. Garcia Animal Shelter, a department of the City of Port Isabel, in repairing the existing kennels in the main complex. It will also fund the repair of the fence surrounding the shelter grounds. The total improvement cost is approximately $10,000, the City of Port Isabel will fund the remaining balance.
