City Partners with UR Recovery to Continue Recycling Efforts

The City of Port Isabel is proud to announce that it has partnered with UR Recovery out of Brownsville, Texas to promote recycling with the placement of five new recycling bins throughout the City. UR Recovery owner Eloy Rodriguez is offering this free service to the City to provide the public especially visitors a place to recycle paper, plastic and aluminum. The first five of ten bins to be donated and serviced by Mr. Rodriguez have been placed on Lighthouse Square, Washington Park, Beulah Lee Park, Laguna Madre Park, and the Wave Station at Four Corners next to Church's Chicken. The remaining ten will be placed at other Wave Stops and important locations where the public gathers. Port Isabel Mayor Joe E. Vega, remarked that "This program is a great asset to the City of Port Isabel and enhances the City's efforts towards the importance of recycling. On behalf of the City Commission and citizens of our community, we are grateful to Mr. Rodriguez for offering this service." Public Works director and Port Isabel Beautification Chair Baldemar Alaniz, stated, " This will offer yet another place to recycle. The City operates a recycling center at the Public Works Department Site on Hickman St. This will allow tourists to help in the efforts of recycling to help efforts to have a cleaner earth and atmosphere."
