EDC Recognized for Rural Business Enterprise Grant Revolving Loan Program

Port Isabel Economic Development Corporation September 28, 2010 The City of Port Isabel's Economic Development Corporation was presented with an award on September 9, during the Third Annual Economic Summit, held this year at the Isla Grande Beach Resort at South Padre Island. The EDC was recognized for securing a Rural Business Enterprise Grant Revolving Loan Program. Two loans have been issued to local business owners; one for improvements to an existing business and the second for a start up business. On hand to present the award were USDA Rural Development Deputy Under Secretary, Victor Vasquez, USDA Rural Development Texas State Director, Paco Valentin and Joel Munguia, Grants and Special Projects Coordinator for Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz. Accepting the award were Mayor Joe E. Vega, City Manager Edward P. Meza, Interim EDC Administrator Carolyn Bogardus, and EDC Assistant Marge Jacobs. ..
