City of Port Isabel Emergency Shelter: The shelter is located at the Port Isabel Community Center (213 Yturria St.). Please bring blankets, pillows, medication you may require, food and water or any other supplies you need during your stay. The emergency shelter will remain open until no longer necessary.For transportation to the shelter, please call the Port Isabel Police Department at 956/943-2727. Mayor Joe E. Vega "encourages residents to remain indoors and limit travel unless absolutely necessary until Hurricane Alex's weather has subsided. The City of Port Isabel's EOC team is still keeping a watchful eye on Alex's progress and wants everybody to remain safe." Hurricane Alex- Windshield Tour of Port Isabel
Port Isabel Mayor Joe E. Vega and members of the EOC team took a windshield tour of Port Isabel during a break in Hurricane Alex's wet weather. "At this point in the storm we're encouraged by the preparation by the citizens of Port Isabel. Damage is at a minimum and that's a good sign so far", said Mayor Vega.
