September brings with it the end of summer and this year brought the last of the three Super Moons of 2014. Pictured here rising over the U. S. Coast Guard Station on South Padre Island, across the waters of the Laguna Madre Bay from Port Isabel, the Super Moon rises into a darkening sky. 6:46 p.m., September 8, 2014.
Then, just moments later, 7:04 p.m., the moon continues its ascent and the character of the surface become more pronounced including Tycho Crater and its rays.
