The Park District is appropriately represented by green. As one is often distracted by the sparkling waters of the Laguna Madre, the lush green landscaping can be overlooked. Here it is showcased in Buelah Lee Park, with its fountain forming the icon for this district. It is named for Buelah Lee Park, one of the city’s first parks. Buelah Lee Park takes its name from the wife of one of Port Isabel’s early doctors and founder and promoter of T.I.F.T., Dr. J.A. Hockaday. This district has gift shops, a historic hotel, dining places, a neighborhood grocery, and a park complete with gazebo and fountain. Also nearby is the City’s Library and Community Center and the City Cemetery. See map below for this channel’s boundary.
