As the Lighthouse was a navigational beacon, so too, it serves as a beacon to both visitor and local alike and is the icon for the Lighthouse District. Named for the Point Isabel Lighthouse, built in 1852, this district includes a variety of restaurants, gift shops coffee houses, ice cream shops, antique shops, museums and breathtaking views of the Laguna Madre Bay.
