Public Library Announces Summer Reading Program for Laguna Madre Children
The 2010 Texas Reading Club, “Libraries: Catch the Reading Express!” provides opportunities for children of all ages to enjoy reading. This self-paced reading program allows children to participate at their own reading level. A log will be provided to each child to track the books they read. In addition to reading the library will have special guests who will offer insight into the history of the railroad, travel by train and the various types of trains.
Registration: Monday, June 28 through Friday, July 9. Parents must register their children at the library
Program Dates: Monday July 12 – Thursday July 29
Location: Port Isabel Public Library, 213 Yturria St., Port Isabel
Deadline for reading logs: Monday, July 26
Special Guests, Story time, Arts –n- Crafts: every Mon, Tues, Wed & Thurs from 2:30 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. from July 12 – July 29
End of Program Celebration: On Thursday, July 29 children are invited to a day of fun with food and drink, prizes, music and dance. Every child who participates in the Summer Reading Program will receive a certificate signed by the State Librarian, Peggy Rudd, bearing his or her name. The time for this event will be announced at the start of the program.
