The Museums of Port Isabel are proud to announce its 18th Annual ‘TASTE of the LAGUNA MADRE’ Museum Fundraiser featuring SHRIMP & FISH & FARE & PELICAN WEST! Tickets can be purchased online!

The Museums of Port Isabel will host this culinary event on Friday, February 13, 2015, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center. Seafood, prepared by local restaurants will be top of the fare and includes side dishes, desserts and beverages.

Live music by PELICAN WEST, door prizes, a silent auction and a Port Isabel Adventure Package raffle are all part of the $25 ticket price. This IS the Museums of Port Isabel’s major fundraiser. Donations will be used to upgrade Museum’s exhibits and support programs.

Special presentation by Tom Britten on the Lipan Apaches. The Lipan Apaches were a Plains Indian people who resided in south-central Texas during the 18th and 19th centuries. They were fierce enemies of the Comanches, allies of the Texans, and played a very significant role in the history of this region. Dr. Britten is a history professor and department chair at UT-Brownsville. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University and a specialist in Native American History. His book The Lipan Apaches: People of Wind and Lightning was published in 2009.
